Benton man files lawsuit after Ashley Madison breach

A class-action lawsuit filed Thursday in Saline County Circuit Court alleges that a recent security breach of the Ashley Madison website resulted in negative financial effects on Arkansas subscribers.

The lawsuit, filed by a Benton man using a "John Doe" pseudonym on behalf of himself and other parties, states that the security failures of adultery website Ashley Madison's parent company, Avid Life Media Inc., "affected the credit and debit cards of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of customers, including plaintiff and class members."

Personal user data of Ashley Madison's 37 million users were released online last month.

According to the lawsuit, the parties are seeking no more than $5 million in damages.

On Friday, the CEO of Ashley Madison resigned.
