Arkansas Tech LB earns preseason honor

Arkansas Tech senior linebacker Logan Genz was named a preseason All-American by D2Football.com on Wednesday.

It's the second time Genz has earned the preseason honor. Genz had 141 tackles last season, leading the Wonder Boys in that category for the third time in his career. His 352 career tackles tie him with Mike Gurule for the school's all-time record. He also has 32.5 tackles for loss, 5 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles in his career.

BASKETBALL

UAM men, women announce schedules

The Arkansas-Monticello men's and women's teams released their 2015-2016 schedules Wednesday.

Both schedules feature exhibition games in early November and both teams will face NCAA Division I opponents on Nov. 9. The women's team will face Baylor in Waco, Texas, while the men will face Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La.

The regular season consists of 28 games for the men and 26 for the women. Conference schedules feature 22 games for each team, thanks to the addition of Oklahoma Baptist, with the majority of doubleheaders played on Thursdays and Saturdays. There also are two Monday doubleheaders.

MISCELLANEOUS

HSU announces Hall of Honor inductees

Henderson State recently announced nine inductees to its Hall of Honor.

Inductees include former HSU basketball player and coach Grady Bean, three-time All-American football player Devon Hughes, two-time All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference golfer James Barnes, two-time All-American diver Don Mixon, two-time All-Gulf South Conference and All-American basketball player Saprina Reed-Burnett, four-time All-Gulf South Conference volleyball player Bethany Wright and former football and track and field performer Russell Cerrato.

This year's class also includes Paul Dixon, who will receive the Distinguished Service Award, and Dr. William Durand, who will be presented the Willie Tate Meritorious Humanitarian Award.

Induction ceremonies and other activities begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 3, in the Garrison Center Grand Ballroom in Arkadelphia. Tickets to the event are $15 and can be obtained by calling (870) 230-5161.
