Football player injured in Oklahoma club fight

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Police say a football player from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma was among three people injured when a fight broke out at a Tahlequah club.

Police Chief Nate King told the Tahlequah Daily Press that one of two people shot was an NSU football player. Another person was stabbed in the Friday morning fight at Club Effx.

None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Two people were in custody and being questioned Friday. Officers said the suspects did not attend the 2,500-student university.

Athletic department spokesman Cedrique Flemming said the department wouldn't identify the player or comment on "the conduct or discipline" of athletes. He said the school's administration may release a statement later.
