SPRINGDALE -- Springdale police arrested a man they believe was involved in an Aug. 4 drive-by shooting on Crutcher Street, according to a news release posted online late Tuesday.

Michael J. Gutierrez, 30, was arrested in connection with terroristic act, tampering with evidence and accomplice to criminal mischief in the first degree. All offenses are felony level, according to the news release.

Gutierrez was booked into the Washington County Detention Center late Tuesday.

Two bullet holes were left in a home at 1310 Crutcher St. after residents reported hearing several shots from a drive-by shooting at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, according to residents and a police report. No one was injured, police said.

One man told police he saw someone in a vehicle shoot five rounds at the apartments, according to a police document. The vehicle was eastbound on Raedels Avenue to Crutcher Street and someone fired to the east, according to the report.

The apartments are adjacent to the home that was hit by bullets.

Police found two to three shell casings at the shooting scene, according to a police report.

Gutierrez denied involvement with the shooting at first, but he later confessed to being the driver of the vehicle used during the shooting, according to the news release online.

Lt. Scott Lewis, a police spokesman, previously wouldn't say whether police were looking for a vehicle or whether the shooting is gang related.

In the Tuesday online post, police said the investigation is ongoing.

Lewis did not respond to an email or message left on his cell phone Tuesday, but he did say in email Wednesday that he had no comment on whether the shooting is gang-related. He also had no comment as to whether police are looking for more people involved in the shooting.

On Wednesday morning, police released a preliminary police report revealing more information into how they found Gutierrez.

Gutierrez had been arrested Aug. 6 in connection with multiple felony charges, including possession of cocaine or methamphetamine with the intent of delivering and simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, according to jail logs. He was at the Washington County Detention Center with a $55,000 bond Wednesday morning.

Gutierrez said he had information on the shooting while he was being interviewed on the unrelated charges, according to the report. Gutierrez initially denied being involved in the shooting, but later said he was the driver of the vehicle, the report said.

Later, a witness identified Gutierrez as the shooter, according to the preliminary report. Gutierrez hot the gun, then hid it under the passenger seat of the vehicle, according to the witness in the report.

Police will request a $100,000 bond for Gutierrez, according to the police report.
