Teen arrested in connection with Lowell robbery

A teenager was arrested Monday in connection with the robbery of a Lowell convenience store.

Trevon Kirkwood, 18, of 619 S. Willow Ave. in Fayetteville was arrested in connection with aggravated robbery, according to Lowell police.

The aggravated robbery count is connected to an Aug. 4 incident at Kum N Go, 978 W. Pleasant Grove Road in Lowell, according to Lowell police.

In security footage shared by the Lowell Police Department, a man dressed in a sweater and wearing a ball cap and a black bandana over his face ran into the store, waved a handgun at the clerk, pointed to a cash register and told him to “get out my money.” The man told the clerk to stuff the money in a cup, then fled the store.

Tips from the public led detectives in the right direction, said Lowell Lt. Paul Pillaro.

Kirkwood was arrested Aug. 13 by Fayetteville police in connection with four other teens and an investigation into a break-in and tagging incident at Fayetteville High School on July 14.

Fayetteville police connected Kirkwood to incidents of commercial burglary and criminal mischief, according to a preliminary arrest report.

School officials identified Kirkwood as a former student from security footage in the Fayetteville case, according to police documents on his arrest there.

Lowell detectives worked with Fayetteville to solve the case, Pillaro said.

Kirkwood was being held Tuesday in the Benton County Jail with no bond set.
