Springdale Immigrant Resource Center celebration set for Tuesday

Community members are invited to a block party tonight to celebrate the opening of an Immigrant Resource Center at 1301 E. Robinson Ave., Suite B6 in Springdale.

The celebration is 4-7 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse at 6 p.m. The event will feature a children's play area, free food, school supply raffle, music and booth

Springdale is the first of five regional centers set to open this year through a partnership between the Arkansas United Community Coalition and Catholic Charities Immigration Services of Northwest Arkansas. The program that will provide area immigrants with immigration navigation services, leadership development opportunities and civic integration support.

Weekly clinics start Thursday and will offer assistance with citizenship and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals applications for qualifying immigrant students.
