LR woman wounded; police seek gunman

Little Rock Police were investigating a shooting that injured one person early Sunday.

Officers responded about 1:26 a.m. to 2015 S. Valentine St. Tonya Williams, 53, of Little Rock, was lying on the ground under a tree. She had two two gunshot wounds in her torso. Williams was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Williams told investigators she'd been talking to Deshon Rushing, 19, before the shooting, and Rushing was concerned someone "has it out for him," according to the report. She said someone in a white truck later drove through the area and fired several shots.

Police recovered five 9 mm shell casings and one .40-caliber casing at the scene, according to the report.

Rushing's car was struck several times in the gunfire, police reported. The vehicle was examined for evidence at the scene.

No information regarding a suspect was available.

Man hit with pipe; shoes, wallet gone

A Perryville man was beaten with a pipe and robbed Sunday morning in Little Rock, police reported.

Jacky Kendrick, 24, said he was walking in the 5800 block of Asher Avenue when a man with a pipe approached about 8 a.m., according to a police report. The man took Kendrick's wallet and Jordan-brand shoes, struck him in the head and shoulder, and fled.

Kendrick refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

Officers searched the area but made no arrests.

The robber is described as black, 6-foot, 160 pounds and between the ages of 22 and 27.

Police investigate carjacking in LR

Police were investigating a carjacking Saturday outside a gas station in downtown Little Rock.

Officers were called about 10:31 p.m. to Shell at 721 E. Ninth St. Augustine Williams, 49, of El Dorado, said she'd put gas in her 2010 Ford Fusion and was driving away from the business when a man entered her vehicle, according to a police report. The man purportedly held a knife to Williams' throat. He forced her out of the car and drove away.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The robber is described as black, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds with curly hair. He wore a blue, black and white plaid shirt and dark pants.

Gunshot treated, man taken to jail

A man shot early Friday in Little Rock was treated and arrested after police found he had outstanding warrants.

Rafel Hudspeth, 31, had been wanted in Maumelle, Sherwood, Beebe and Little Rock when he called Little Rock police to 5223 S. University Ave. about 2:07 a.m., according to a police report. Hudspeth had been shot in the back and was "walking around frantically" in the parking lot of a gas station. He was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock for treatment. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Hudspeth told police he'd been leaving a nightclub on Asher Avenue when he stopped at a red light and someone shot at his pickup, the report states. Further circumstances of the shooting were unclear.

Officers noted four bullet holes in Hudspeth's vehicle.

Police said Hudspeth was released from the hospital later Friday and booked in the Pulaski County jail. Court records show Hudspeth had two warrants for failure to pay. Information on the other warrants wasn't immediately available.

Hudspeth wasn't listed on the jail roster Monday.

No arrests had been made in the shooting.

Gun implied, driver loses car to robber

Little Rock police were searching for a white 2011 Chevrolet Malibu taken in an armed robbery Friday.

Alicia Brooks, 29, said she'd pulled into her driveway at 9 Saab Circle shortly after midnight and "felt a solid metal object pressed against the back of her head," according to a police incident report. A man took the car keys from Brooks and drove away.

No injuries were reported.

Brooks said she didn't see a gun but the robber implied he had one, the report states.

The robber is described only as black and 5-foot-6.

Man arrested in LR restaurant beating

Little Rock police arrested a man Monday over accusations he beat up another man at a Little Rock restaurant Friday, inflicting serious injuries on his head and face.

According to a police report, Brandon Burks, 30, repeatedly punched 23-year-old Colin Reddy while Reddy was unconscious. The fight occurred at Khalil's Pub & Grill, 110 S. Shackleford Road.

A warrant for Burks' arrest was issued Friday. U.S. Marshals arrested him about 3 p.m. Monday on Crystal Hill Road in North Little Rock.

Burks was booked into Pulaski County jail on a charge of second-degree battery, and his bail was set at $10,000. He remained on the jail's roster late Monday.
