3 die after wrecks on Arkansas roads

A man was killed Sunday after his vehicle was hit by a train in Piggott, Arkansas State Police reported.

According to a preliminary report, the collision occurred about 3:15 p.m. on Lincoln Street, just west of Arkansas 49.

Aaron L. Beaver, 27, of Piggott drove a 1997 Ford onto the railroad tracks and was struck by a southbound train. Beaver was transported to Piggott Community Hospital.

Later on Sunday, a Fordyce man died after his car went off a highway in Bradley County and struck a tree, state police said.

Arlee Turner, 71, was driving a 2005 Ford ZX4 north on Arkansas 8 at 4:45 p.m. According to a report, the car left the road and went into the southbound ditch. The Ford then struck a tree and overturned.

A Camden woman died Monday after crossing the center line on Arkansas 9 and striking a semi-truck.

Jackie S. McLendon, 39, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet north in Ouachita County when she struck the back of a Freightliner truck traveling south, according to a report. The wreck occurred about 8:10 a.m.

McLendon was transported to Ouachita County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The semi-truck driver, 48-year-old John Allen of Rosston, was not injured.
