SPRINGDALE -- A woman was arrested Sunday in connection with her boyfriend's stabbing death at a Springdale apartment complex.

Wanda Ivette Andaluz-Prado, 44 of 514 Butterfield Coach, E102 in Springdale was arrested Sunday in connection with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. She was being held Sunday in the Washington County Jail with no bond set.

Police logs indicate the initial call to the apartment was at 2:46 a.m. for suicide or attempted suicide.

A news release from the Springdale Police Department stated the call was for a Hispanic man who attempted suicide and identified Andaluz-Prado as the man's girlfriend. Police did not release the man's name Sunday, but said the investigation into his death is continuing.

A preliminary police report indicates the person who called 911 said a man had cut himself and was bleeding. When medics arrived, they were unable to resuscitate the man who had a knife wound to his chest.

Neighbor Clemend Lenny said the couple had a party Saturday night. About eight people were talking and hanging out on the apartment patio, Lenny said.

A magnetic screen door was pinned to the apartment. A box of dominoes, snack mix and foil-wrapped food sat on a table outside near a grill and three chairs, one filled with blankets, were positioned near the door.

The sound wound down about 3 a.m., Lenny said.

He saw about four police officers outside the apartment at about 7 a.m. and they left by 9 or 10 a.m., he said. Two women were sleeping outside and they left with the police, he said.

Other residents at the Montecito Springs apartment complex said they didn't realize anything out of the ordinary had happened until they saw the media presence at the complex on Sunday.

The man died of a single stab wound to the chest, according to a preliminary police report. Medics were unable to revive him.

Andaluz-Prado initially told police she and the man had argued over keys in the apartment. She said the man picked up a knife and she left. When she returned she found him in a pool of blood, according to the preliminary police report.

A witness told police Andaluz-Prado stabbed the man, according to the police report.

Under questioning Andaluz-Prado later told police she stabbed the man, cleaned the knife and then placed it by his body, according to the police report.

A broken necklace with its cross broken off was found near the man's body, according to the report.
