Patrick Lucero, 48, of Plumerville, was arrested at 7:15 a.m. Sunday and charged with three counts each of second-degree battery and aggravated assault on a certified law enforcement officer; and one count each of resisting arrest/failure to submit, first-degree terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct, according to an arrest report.

Officers were called to John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital because Lucero was loudly cursing and threatening to kill his wife, who was at the hospital with him, police said.

According to the report, officers pepper-sprayed Lucero when he charged at them. He was then taken to the hospital's emergency room, where he took a "fighting stance" and became combative with police and hospital workers, the report said.

Lucero removed a table drawer and attempted to strike those around him, police said.

He was being held in the Pulaski County jail without bail Sunday night.
