Woman arrested in connection with stabbing death in Springdale

SPRINGDALE — A woman has been arrested in her boyfriend's death after an early morning investigation in Springdale, according to police.

Wanda Ivette Andaluz-Prado, 44 of 514 Butterfield Coach in Springdale was arrested Sunday in connection with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. She was being held Sunday in the Washington County Jail with no bond set.

Officers were called to investigate a suicide of a Hispanic man at 2:46 a.m. Sunday from the Montecito Springs apartment complex at 514 Butterfield Coach Road, according to information from the Springdale Police Department.

A preliminary police report indicates the person who called 911 said a man had cut himself and was bleeding. The man had a single knife wound to the chest, according to the report. First responders were unable to resuscitate him.

Andaluz initially told police she and the man had argued over keys and she left when he picked up a knife, according to the preliminary police report. When she returned he was dead, she told police.

A witness told police Andaluz stabbed the man, according to the police report. Blood spatter at the scene indicated the man could not have killed himself, according to the report.

Andaluz later admitted to stabbing the man once in the chest, cleaning the knife and placing it near his body, according to the police report.

Police did not release the man's name Sunday, but said the investigation into his death is continuing.
