Manning shows off for Chesney

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning drills at the team's NFL football training camp in Englewood, Colo., on Friday.

Country singer Kenny Chesney got a show just hours before he was scheduled to perform at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday in Denver.

Standing on the sideline for Day 8 of Broncos training camp, Chesney got a front-row view of Peyton Manning's oft-scrutinized mobility.

The highlight came early in team drills, when Manning, 39, rolled out and ran to the right sideline, mere feet from his longtime friend Chesney, for a first down.

The Broncos' quarterback followed with a rollout and over-the-shoulder pass to tight end Owen Daniels for a touchdown.

"[Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison] had him on the move like a young man today," Coach Gary Kubiak said with a smile. "We tried to work him good today."

After practice, Manning hopped a flight to Canton, Ohio, for former Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian's Hall of Fame induction Saturday evening.

Polian, who drafted Manning with the top pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, also took a shot at Manning during his speech.

"If you keep playing," Polian said, "I may not be around for your introduction."

Thanks, Grandma

Baseball fans get at Phoenix's Chase Field have a chance to witness some top-tier talent.

No, not the Arizona Diamondbacks. Derrick Moore, lemonade vendor extraordinaire.

"LEM-O-NAAADE! LEM-O-NAADE! LIKE GRANDMA MADE!! Yum, yum, you gotta get some!"

According to The Arizona Republic, Moore's powerful pipes and catchy pitches have long made him a fan favorite at Chase Field, where he's currently an employee for Levy Restaurants, the stadium's exclusive restaurant partner. But this weekend brought Moore national fame, after major league fans named him #TopMLBVendor with 56 percent of the vote in a somewhat unscientific poll on MLB.com.

By Sunday, Moore was an instant celebrity, with fans and well-wishers repeatedly stopped him to grab selfies, offer hugs or just a sincere congratulations.

"For the DBacks to have MLB top vendor...you know...I think that's good recognition," Moore told the Republic.

Moore's been selling lomonade at Chase Field since it opened in 1998. Strawberry is the most popular favor, he said. But he's been hawking concessions at different stadiums for almost 30 years.

And his signature lemonade call? That came from the heart.

"I thought about my grandma and everything she did for me," Moore told the Republic. "She made me lemonade, she made me other dishes she liked. It was made with love."

MJ Q&A

Michael Jordan's basketball camp for kids, Michael Jordan Flight School, ended Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif., and the former Chicago Bulls star closed things out with a Q&A session.

Among the highlights, according to the Washington Post:

• In answer to a question that Jordan was sure would "be all over ESPN", he was asked if, in his "prime" form, he could beat LeBron James one-on-one: "No question."

• If he had to pick one of his former coaches for one hypothetical game, it would be the late Dean Smith -- not Phil Jackson. Smith "helped me become the basketball player I am today," Jordan said, while Jackson "was lucky, because I was taught the game by Dean Smith."

• The biggest trash-talker he ever played against was "probably Larry Bird," although the Boston Celtics great talked "good trash, not dirty trash."

• If he could add one player, in any sport, to Team Jordan, it would be Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout.

• If sports hadn't worked out, he "always wanted to be a weatherman," noting that he had studied a meteorology precursor in college.

• He "has a high regard" for Kobe Bryant, who "has a true love for the game of basketball." But Jordan added, "Even though he stole all my moves!"
