Talented quartet leads Lady War Eagles

Rogers Heritage has won eight of its last 10 games and sits alone in third place in the 7A-West Conference as the race heads down the homestretch. The Lady War Eagles' offense has been keyed by four players.

Seniors Dasha Donahoe, Taylor Easley and Kenzi Ziem, along with junior Lindsay Glynn, have been the driving force for the Lady War Eagles' attack. Donahoe leads the team with a .471 average and 23 RBIs, hitting in the cleanup spot. Ziem, who has already signed to play at Rogers State next year, has set the table out of the lead-0ff spot.

Ziem is has a .500 on-base percentage and scored a team-high 31 runs. She is also 21-of-21 in stolen bases. Easley is next with a .435 batting average, followed by Glynn at .420. Easley is second on the team with 22 RBIs and has scored 28 runs. Glynn has contributed 17 RBIs, 23 runs scored and 11-of-12 on stolen bases.

The Lady War Eagles (14-5-2, 7-3 7A-West) will finish out their conference schedule on the road, playing at Fort Smith Southside on Wednesday and at Fayetteville on Friday.

Fayetteville

Crunch time for Lady'Dogs

With the final weeks of the 7A-West Conference softball regular season winding down, the Lady Bulldogs find themselves in a make or break situation.

Fayetteville (9-11, 2-6 7A-West) sits in seventh place in the conference standings, but still has six games left in the league schedule. The Lady'Dogs picked up a much-needed 7A-West victory at Springdale High last week, but still will need to add more if they hope to advance to the 7A Tournament.

Fayetteville visits Springdale Har-Ber on Wednesday and hosts Rogers Heritage on Friday. Heritage has already clinched a spot in the postseason, but Har-Ber -- like Fayetteville -- is still fighting for a position.

The Lady Bulldogs went 0-2 over the weekend at the Siloam Springs Invitational, with losses to Harrison and Pea Ridge.

Springdale Har-Ber

Changes help Har-Ber

Har-Ber (9-8, 4-5 7A-West) played over the weekend in a tournament at Benton, where the Lady Wildcats won two of three games.

Har-Ber beat White Hall 6-1 and Beebe 2-1, but lost 9-2 to Benton Harmony Grove. Emily Stockalper won two games in the circle and Heidi Bogle played well at shortstop after moving from center field, where she's played most of the season.

"It was a good weekend to move some kids around at other positions to see if our defense would strengthen some," Har-Ber coach Lynn Lawson said. "Heidi played extremely well."

Har-Ber returns to 7A-West action against Fayetteville on Wednesday at J.B. Hunt Park. The Lady Wildcats went 2-1 last week with wins over Springdale High and a loss to Bentonville.

Rogers High

Lady Mounties rolling

Rogers High can take another big step toward a conference championship as the Lady Mounties have key games with Fort Smith Northside and Bentonville this week.

Rogers (18-4, 10-0 7A-West) is at Northside Wednesday before they host Bentonville (18-4, 9-1) Thursday in a showdown between the top two teams in the 7A-West Conference. A pair of wins by the Lady Mounties this week would give them the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye at the state tournament.

Rogers has a strong one-two punch in the circle in pitchers Maddie Massanelli and Haylee Zimmerman. Massanelli is 10-1 with a 1.26 ERA while Zimmerman is 7-3 with a 2.34 ERA. Massanelli has 74 strikeouts in 61 innings while Zimmerman has 51 strikeouts in 71 innings of work.

The Lady Mounties are also productive at the plate as they have a team batting average of .336. Allyn Hensley leads the way with a .414 average while Massanelli is batting .409.

Rogers, which has already qualified for the Class 7A State Tournament, closes the out the regular season next week at home against Fayetteville and on the road at Springdale High. Rogers is the host of the Class 7A Tournament.
