Lowell man sentenced to 20 years in prison for robbery

BENTONVILLE -- A Lowell man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he admitted he took part in the robbery of a convenience store.

Omar Martin-Del Campo, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to robbery, a Class B felony punishable with prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years. He was charged with aggravated robbery.

He agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge under a plea agreement attorney Steven Kay reached with Brynna Barnica, deputy prosecutor.

Springdale police were called at 4:15 a.m. Nov. 7 from the White Oak Station at 4128 Wagon Wheel Road, according to court documents.

A clerk reported two men came into the store through the back entrance and purchased a pack of gum, according to probable cause affidavit. They purchased a second pack of gum and then demanded money, the affidavit states.

The clerk opened the cash drawer and both men took money and then left, according to court documents.

Police identified Martin-Del Campo and Francisco Vera-Ayala as the suspects, according to court documents.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Martin-Del Campo's guilty plea.

Martin-Del Campo was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He received 161 days of credit for the time he spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial.

Vera-Ayala, 23, of Rogers pleaded guilty to robbery last month. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
