Cherokee chief visiting Fayetteville

Bill John Baker, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, is visiting Fayetteville today to meet with Cherokee tribal members in Northwest Arkansas, according to a news release.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mt. Sequoyah Methodist Assembly's Parker Building at 150 Skyline Drive in Fayetteville.

There are more than 1,700 Cherokee citizens in Arkansas, most of them in Benton, Washington, Crawford and Sebastian counties, the news release stated.
