Razorbacks’ Crawford third at SEC

Arkansas’ Kolton Crawford shot a 66 in Saturday’s second round at the SEC Men’s Championships in St. Simons Island, Ga. and is in third place with a 9-under-par 131.

Crawford trails South Carolina’s Matthew NeSmith by two strokes and Alabama’s Robby Shelton by one entering today’s final round.

Taylor Moore followed his first-round 73 with a 66 and is tied for 19th with a 1-under 139.

Arkansas is in sixth place with a 6-under 554 after shooting a 274 on Saturday.

Alabama leads with a 7-under 543, holding a three-stroke lead over LSU. Vanderbilt and South Carolina are tied for third at 550. Auburn is fifth at 551.

Arkansas’ Lopez in fifth place

Arkansas junior Gabriela Lopez shot a 2-under-par 70 on Saturday and is in fifth place at the SEC Women’s Championship in Hoover, Ala.

Lopez followed her first-round 71 with a second-round 70 and trails Texas A&M’s Bianca Fabrizio by four strokes. South Carolina’s Katelyn Dambaugh is second with a 138 while Jenny Hahn of Vanderbilt is third at 139 and Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M is fourth at 139.

Arkansas’ Alana Uriell is tied for 21st with a 3-over 147.

The Razorbacks are in seventh place with a 17-over 593. Texas A&M leads the tournament with a 6-under 570. South Carolina is second with a 3-over 579.

BASEBALL

UAFS blanks Texas-Permian Basin

Ryan Justus hit for the cycle, going 5 for 5 including his eighth home run, and Arkansas-Fort Smith defeated Texas-Permian Basin 12-0 at Rhoden Field in Odessa, Texas. Arkansas-Fort Smith (24-14, 12-7 Heartland Conference) scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth. Devin Hampton (5-2) allowed 7 hits with 2 walks and struck out 3 in a complete-game victory.

Ozarks tops Hardin-Simmons

University of the Ozarks scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to beat Hardin-Simmons 11-2 in Abilene, Texas, on Saturday. Andrew Beck tripled, had 2 hits and scored 2 runs for Ozarks (7-21, 4-16 American Southwest Conference). John Singler (2-4) had a complete-game victory, allowing 1 earned run.

SOFTBALL

Missouri beats Arkansas in five innings

Missouri scored nine runs in the first two innings and defeated Arkansas 11-1 in five innings Saturday at Bogle Park in Fayetteville. The Tigers (30-10, 10-7 SEC) finished with 11 runs on 14 hits and were led by Sami Fagan, who went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI. Paige Lowery pitched the first three innings to get the victory while Cheyene Baker pitched the last two. Alison Stewart allowed 6 runs on 6 hits in 1 inning to take the loss for Arkansas. Devon Wallace had a home run in the third inning for the Razorbacks (15-19, 1-16). The teams meet at 1 p.m. today in the series finale.

TRACK AND FIELD

UA women have personal bests

Arkansas’ Dominique Scott ran a personal-best of 4 minutes, 12.16 seconds in the 1,500 meters at the Mt. Sac Relays at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., on Friday night. She finished second among college runners and was seventh overall.

Scott’s time broke her previous best of 4:14.33 and came in her first race since breaking the school record in the 10,000 at the Stanford Invitational.

Regan Ward set a personal best of 10:22.36 in the B section of the 3,000 steeplechase, breaking her previous mark of 10:34.29.

Other top performers for the Razorbacks included Jessica Kamilos in the invitational 3,000 steeplechase with a third-place finish at 9:57.17. Shannon Kienkie finished eighth in the B section of the 5,000 in 16:30.86. Diane Robinson was 13th in the 5,000 at 15:53.47.
