Where I live: I live with my husband, Griffin, in the Heights neighborhood of Little Rock. We have two Burmese cats, Kona and Java, who graciously allow us to share their home and remind us daily that we are staff.

Occupation: After nearly 23 years, I recently retired as travel editor from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and am contemplating my next move. One thing is for sure — I will continue travel writing and exploring the world as I tick off destinations on my bucket list.

My favorite space: The deck that runs the length of the north side of our home overlooking the Arkansas River.

Why? Sitting on the deck and taking in the view is a great stress reliever. We have a beautiful panorama, from Pinnacle Mountain to the west to Burns Park on the east. Sometimes I sit and think. Sometimes I just sit. It’s a great spot for a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening, for reading the morning paper or a good book. But it is where I go to breathe out and totally relax.

If I could change one thing, I would: enlarge the deck for more entertaining space, find the perfect chair cushions and install an outdoor music system
