"That was probably his best night," Bentonville coach Todd Abbott said of Brown. "No doubt he was seeing the ball big. Had a great night for us."

Springdale (8-9, 1-7) scored twice in the bottom of the second inning to knot the game at two. But then Bentonville broke the game open, scoring two runs in the third to chase Springdale starter Troy Boyd and get into the Bulldogs' bullpen, then adding six more runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.

"We scratch and claw and get it back to two and we talk about having to make some stops, get stop innings," Springdale coach Shohn Doty said. "When we score, the other team can't. And we just could not do that tonight. A lot of credit goes to their hitters."

Bentonville starter Kasey Ford limited Springdale much of the game, pitching all five innings and striking out seven while allowing just five hits and no walks. Garrett Keithley added a solo home run for the Tigers, while Cody Scroggins and Brian Gloeckler each had three hits and combined to score seven runs.

Game 2

Bentonville 9, Springdale 1

Paul Rouse went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as Bentonville completed the sweep.

The Tigers put up three runs in the second and five more in the third to take a commanding 8-1 lead in the nightcap. Ben Nordin added a solo home run for Bentonville, while starter Drew Young worked six solid innings, allowing just one run on three hits and four walks while striking out four.

"I feel like we played two complete ballgames," Abbott said. "Started on the mound with Ford in game one and Drew Young in game two, both of those guys throwing strikes. And then it rolls from there, defense making plays and we had quality at-bats up and down the lineup."
