State releases school report cards

The Arkansas Department of Education today released report cards for each school district in the state, including letter grades for each school.

The reports may be accessed online at adesrc.arkansas.gov. Reports are available by school district and by school building. Individual school reports may be found by clicking on the appropriate school district, which will provide a list of schools in that district.

The letter grade is far down the page for each school — search for "School Rating."

This is the first year Arkansas has evaluated schools using the same kind of letter grades used to evaluate a student's performance. The Arkansas Legislature passed a law in 2013 requiring the state to implement this kind of grading system.

Statewide, 162 schools received A's, 322 received B's, 365 received C's, 158 received D's, and 43 received F's.

In Benton and Washington counties, 31 schools received A’s, 45 received B’s, 39 received C’s and eight received D’s. No schools received an F.

The report cards provide pages of data about each district’s test scores, demographics, teacher quality and more.
