In Aussie's death, jury being selected

DUNCAN, Okla. -- Jury selection has begun in southern Oklahoma for the murder trial of a 17-year-old charged in the shooting death of a college baseball player from Australia.

Chancey Luna of Duncan is charged in Stephens County with first-degree murder in the 2013 shooting death of 22-year-old Christopher Lane as Lane was jogging. Lane was a member of the East Central University baseball team in Ada. He was in Duncan to visit his girlfriend. Investigators have said he was randomly targeted by bored teenagers.

Jury selection is expected to take several days.

Defense attorneys have not disputed that Luna fired the fatal shot but claim evidence shows he thought he was firing blanks.

Luna faces life in prison, either with or without the possibility of parole, if he's convicted.
