School PR, marketing team wins awards

Northwest Arkansas Community College's public relations and marketing team received two gold and two silver Paragon awards at the annual ceremony for the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations held March 24 in Portland, Ore.

Graphic designer Justin Froning received a gold award for a flier he created promoting the college's health and benefits fair, and a gold award for a series of fliers promoting enrollment. Froning also received a silver award in the computer-generated illustration category for a flier related to enrollment.

The entire public relations and marketing team, plus Amy Benincosa, associate director for development with the NWACC Foundation, received a silver award in the category of fundraising campaign.

The college's public relations and marketing team includes Froning; Steven R. Hinds, executive director of public relations and marketing; Danielle Dotson, public relations and social media specialist; Debbie Miller, communications specialist; and Rachel Lipe, graphic designer. Rob Hanlon, former director of marketing at the community college, and Daniel Yeager, the school's former social media coordinator,, also contributed to the project.

The gold Paragons represent the highest honor presented to two-year colleges for communications and marketing initiatives. The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations is the only organization representing marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. Its membership includes representatives from more than 400 institutions.
