Fayetteville First Thursday canceled due to weather

FAYETTEVILLE — The outdoor portion of tonight’s First Thursday festival on the downtown square has been canceled due to the likelihood of inclement weather, according to the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a significant risk of severe thunderstorms after 5 p.m. in northeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

A reception inside the Fayetteville Underground, 101 W. Mountain St., will go on as scheduled. Works by Maser, an international street artist, Guy Bell and students from the Arkansas Arts Academy will be on display.

First Thursday events are scheduled to resume May 7. The outdoor street festival features local artisans, live music and a beer garden. According to Hazel Hernandez, special events manager for the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, movies will be screened this year, too.
