4 crashes leave 4 dead on state roads

State police list victims from Ola, Sulphur Rock, Little Rock, Missouri

Four people died Saturday in separate car accidents, according to Arkansas State Police.

A motorcycle rider died when a sport utility vehicle went into his lane and struck him head-on, police said. The accident occurred about 11:45 a.m. in Yell County.

Rosa Sierra, 16, of Dardanelle, was driving south on Arkansas 7 when she lost control of her Toyota Sequoia, crossed into the northbound lane and hit 43-year-old Brian Rose of Ola.

Rose, who was riding a Suzuki motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sierra was not injured.

One person was killed and five others were injured in a car accident Saturday afternoon near Sulphur Rock, state police said.

Bobby Smart III, 16, of Batesville, was driving a Dodge truck north on Watson Road west of Sulphur Rock about 12:10 p.m. He crossed the centerline and struck a Ford SUV driven by 63-year-old Brenda Jackson of Sulphur Rock.

Jackson was killed. Smart and a passenger in his vehicle -- 16-year-old Nicholas Wood of Batesville -- were injured. Also injured were three passengers in Jackson's vehicle: 3-year-old Ella Baker, 7-year-old Emily Baker and 37-year-old Rebecca Baker, all of Mayflower.

The injured were transported to White River Medical Center in Batesville. Their conditions were unknown Monday.

In Newton County, a Missouri woman was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday.

Walter James Humphrey, 44, of Jefferson City, Mo., was driving a Harley-Davidson west on Arkansas 16 about 2:30 p.m. He lost control on a curve, and the motorcycle overturned, state police said.

A passenger on the motorcycle -- 50-year-old Tanya Marie Humphrey, also of Jefferson City -- died. The driver was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville with injuries.

A Little Rock man died after a one-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Pope County.

Christopher E. Hart, 39, was driving a Nissan north on Butterfield Stagecoach Bypass in Pottsville about 6 p.m. when he veered off the road. According to an accident report, Pottsville police found Hart and the Nissan at the bottom of a hill.

Hart was taken to Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, where he died.
