Fayetteville To Hold Food Truck Lottery

FAYETTEVILLE -- The city's Development Services Department will be taking applications during October from people who want to operate food trucks and food trailers on public property in 2015.

All interested parties will be entered into two lotteries: one for those who want to operate in marked parallel public parking spaces, primarily along Dickson Street; and one for those who want to operate in city parks or on streets outside the downtown area.

At least three permits will be awarded in each lottery. The lotteries are scheduled Nov. 3. If more than nine lottery applications are made, one-third will receive permits.

The city has a separate process for permitting food truck courts and mobile vendors that operate on private property.

For applications or to see a list of frequently asked questions about the section of city code that deals with mobile vendors, go to the Development Services page on the city's website, accessfayetteville.org, and click on "Documents."
