Two schoolkids held; bomb threats at junior high citied

FORT SMITH — Two Fort Smith junior high school students, ages 13 and 15, were arrested Thursday on felony charges of making bomb threats at two different schools.

A 15-year-old female student at Darby Junior High School was arrested on a warrant charging her with communicating a false alarm Wednesday, a Fort Smith police news release states.

A 13-year-old male student at Ramsey Junior High School was arrested on a felony charge of communicating a false alarm Thursday, according to the release. School officials identified the student who was arrested on the basis of the handwriting on the threat note, the release states.

In both cases, according to the release, the bomb threats were found in bathrooms, a girls’ bathroom at Darby and a boys’ bathroom at Ramsey.

Both students were being held without bail Thursday in the Sebastian County Juvenile Detention Center.
