Suspect in Missouri arson nabbed in Baxter County

A woman wanted in Missouri in connection with the burning of the Ozark County prosecutor's home was arrested Thursday morning in Mountain Home.

Baxter County sheriff's deputies and rangers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers responded about 11:45 a.m. to Baypoint Drive south of Mallard Point. They were searching for a woman who hadn't returned a vehicle lent to her by its owner.

Authorities found and detained the woman at a campsite at the end of Baypoint Drive. Through a national crime database, they identified her as Tina Louis Amaral and found that she had an active arrest warrant in Ozark County, Mo.

The warrant, according to the sheriff's office, was issued on a charge of failure to appear in court on a felony charge of arson. Amaral, 32, had been charged with arson in the burning of Ozark County prosecutor Tom Cline's home in 2009.

Amaral was arrested. She was being held in the Baxter County jail late Thursday awaiting extradition to Missouri.

The sheriff's office reported that Amaral gave deputies a fake name after she was detained, for which she was charged with obstructing governmental operations.
