Big-rig driver 1 of 3 killed in 3 accidents

A Center Ridge man died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday in Cleburne County, state police reported.

Johnny Brown, 59, was driving an 18-wheeler north on Arkansas 25 south of Heber Springs when about 7:32 a.m., the vehicle ran off the road in a curve and overturned.

State police reported Wednesday that two other people had died in crashes on Arkansas roadways.

Dorothy Jones, 74, was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday in Randolph County. She was a passenger in a 2003 Ford traveling south on U.S. 67 when about 2:04 p.m., a 2007 Toyota traveling in the opposite direction crossed the centerline and struck her vehicle head-on.

Jones, of Maynard, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, Sharon Gilbert, 49, and the driver of the Toyota, Tony Carter, 42, were hospitalized.

Conditions were clear and dry when the crash occurred.

Jonathan Robertson, 16, died from his injuries Wednesday after a two-vehicle crash in Lincoln County. He was driving a 2014 Ford south on Arkansas 530 at Arrowhead Road when about 6:45 p.m., he failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by a 2010 Ford.

Robertson, of Rison, was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, where he died. A 16-year-old passenger in his vehicle, Baylee Magness, and two occupants of the 2010 Ford, Claude McHerron, 41, and Kara Payne, 40, were also taken to the hospital.

Conditions were clear and dry when the crashes occurred, according to the Arkansas State Police.
