What does it do: The FoodSaver is a vacuum-sealing system that helps preserve foods by removing air from around the food, helping to prevent freezer burn. It's great when buying in bulk or preserving garden vegetables. Other uses suggested by the company are sealing liquids in, such as shampoos, to prevent spills in suitcases when traveling, and protecting polished silver. And with the new design, the company says, bag waste is reduced up to 40 percent over its older models. Price is $79.99.

What's to love: No adhesive needed and easy to re-position.
What does it do: The textured shelf or drawer liner comes in two sizes, 12 inches by 8 feet and 20 inches by 5 feet, and stays in place without the use of adhesive, making it easy to replace when needed. The liners are latex free and come in taupe and white. Suggested retail price is $6.47 for either size roll.
