FAYETTEVILLE -- Former teacher and school board candidate Tim Hollis has filed a lawsuit against the School District citing a violation of the Freedom of Information Act over access to certain email, letters and other communication.

Information wasn't provided for three requests because Christopher Lawson, the district's attorney, thinks the requests referring to the "financial office, financial officers, treasurer or any similar department or employee" are too broad, vague and "otherwise objectionable."

The requests ask for all email and other communication between School District attorneys and those employees; similar communication between the humans resources department and those employees; and Vicki Thomas and those employees, all during the previous year.

Lawson asked Hollis, through his attorney, to narrow his request, according to his lawsuit. Hollis refused.

Lawson said the three requests likely could produce hundreds of thousands of documents, all of which would need to be checked, and any personal information that could be considered an invasion of privacy of School District employees would have to be redacted.

The requests were part of 23 files Hollis requested Aug. 22.

Bryce Crawford, Hollis' attorney, said the other requested information has been received.

Hollis has a lawsuit against the district over his termination pending before the Arkansas Court of Appeals.
