BENTONVILLE -- Jayna Moffit, a math teacher at Lincoln Junior High School, is one of four finalists for the 2015 Arkansas Teacher of the Year award.

The finalists were named Tuesday during a ceremony at the state Capitol in Little Rock. The other three finalists include Donna Dillahunty, a fifth-grade English language arts teacher in Marion; Lindsay Griffin, a sixth-grade literacy teacher in Greenbrier; and Ouida Newton, a high school math teacher in Poyen, according to a news release.

The Teacher of the Year Selection Committee will visits with the four finalists over the next few weeks. The winner will be recognized at a surprise notification event.

Each of the four finalists received a medallion and a $1,000 award sponsored by the Walton Family Foundation. The winner will receive an additional $14,000, also sponsored by the foundation.

Each Teacher of the Year award recipient also is granted a year of paid administrative leave to serve in an advisory position as a nonvoting member to the Arkansas Board of Education and for professional development purposes.
