An officer responding to a report of a home invasion at 120 S. Elm St. saw a silver Mercury Marquis matching the description of a stolen vehicle traveling west in the 4000 block of Wooten Road, according to an arrest report. While following the vehicle, the officer noticed it was following a Dodge Challenger.

Officers arrested Kameron Deal, 21, after he abandoned the Marquis, still in motion, and fled on foot, according to the report. The Marquis wrecked into an unoccupied 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander on South Charles Lane. While fleeing, Deal dropped a 9mm handgun, according to the report.

Deal eluded a K-9 search but was later located at Diamond Liquor, approximately three-quarters of a mile to the west.

Officers arrested Jonathan Foster, 21, who was driving the Challenger. Although Foster initially denied knowing Deal, several calls from an iPhone stolen during the home invasion and found in the Marquis Deal had been driving were shown to have been made to Foster's cellphone. In an interview at the Jacksonville police station, Foster admitted having known Deal for several years.

Deal was being held Friday at the Pulaski County jail on five counts of theft of property and single counts of carrying certain prohibited weapons, failure to stop after an accident, burglary, fleeing and failure to appear in court on a previous charge. Foster was being held on one count of burglary and two counts of theft of property.
