Hobbs, a junior, had 212 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as the Cardinals (2-0) built a 26-6 halftime lead. He didn't play on offense in the fourth quarter.

"He could've had 460, but I think he got tired," Huntsville Coach Tom Tice said.

Hobbs was the best option when a wet ball and wet field forced Farmington Coach Mike Adams to veer away from his plan of passing more than the nine attempts for quarterback Brice Waggle.

"Hobbs had a great night but he's a very good player," Farmington Coach Mike Adams said. "I'm glad we've got him on our side."

Farmington scored its first touchdown through the air, though. Waggle hit Michael Ingram for a six-yard touchdown with 7:23 remaining in the first quarter for a 6-0 lead.

Hobbs had his first touchdown on a five-yard run with 5:36 left in the opening quarter for a 12-0 lead.

Huntsville (1-1) got within 12-6 on Christian Cain's 49-yard run with 1:41 left in the first quarter.

Hobbs had scoring runs of 16 and six yards in the second quarter. He scored the Cardinals' final touchdown on a three-yard run with 2:39 left in third quarter.

He missed another scoring opportunity when he was tackled at the Huntsville 6 and lost his shoe with about 10 minutes left in the third quarter. He was replaced by Josh Blew, who scored the six-yard touchdown with 9:46 left in the quarter.

"We stopped ourselves a time or two in the first half," Tice said. "But Farmington is a very good team.

"I've seen Harrison and I've seen them and Farmington stacks up well."
