Argument on street leaves hand sliced

Little Rock police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after a caller complained of being slashed on the hand while walking through a residential area on West 13th Street.

Michael Leonard, 39, of Little Rock, was charged with second-degree battery, accused of slicing the hand of Gary Scoggan, 57, also of Little Rock.

According to the police report, Rosemaire Clark said she heard barking outside her residence on West 13th Street. Looking out the window, she saw one of her dogs had escaped her fence, and that Scoggan was yelling at the dog. Clark said she went outside and told Scoggan to "keep walking," according to the report.

Clark said Scoggan instead began walking toward her, and the two began to argue. Leonard then walked out of the residence, which he shares with Clark, pulled out a knife, and told Scoggan to leave, the report said. When Scoggan grabbed Leonard's wrist, Leonard pulled back, apparently slicing Scoggan's hand, the report said.

Ex-employee jailed in tool-shop holdup

A man was arrested Wednesday in an attempted holdup of a Little Rock tool and equipment store last month, police reported.

Tyrone Miles told police that shortly before 7 a.m. on Aug. 27, he was opening Harbor Freight Tools at 5820 Asher Ave. when a masked man with a rifle confronted him in the back of the store. The gunman aimed the rifle at Miles and demanded money.

Despite the mask, Miles said he recognized the intruder as Glenn Ladd, a former store employee, according to the report. Miles told police he grabbed the rifle and after a brief struggle, the gunman fled. Ladd, 19, was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated robbery.

He was being held Thursday at the Pulaski County jail with bail set at $25,000.

Passenger pulled gun, driver reports

Police arrested a North Little Rock woman Thursday, accusing her of holding a motorist at gunpoint, according to a police report.

Tamaica Brown, 38, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime after officers were flagged down by Gregory Williams of Little Rock in the 2900 block of East Broadway, according to the report.

Williams told officers that Brown had brandished a weapon while he was driving. Brown was being held Thursday in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $25,500 bond.
