Printmaker's talk

Printmaker Evan Lindquist, emeritus art professor at Arkansas State University and the state's first artist laureate, will give a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. Friday in conjunction with "Legacy," an exhibition of his works on display through Oct. 1 at the Bradbury Gallery, ASU's Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro.

Admission is free. A reception will follow at Sara Howell Gallery, 405 S. Main St., Jonesboro, where more of Lindquist's work is on display.

Beethoven recital

Pianist Gustavo Romero will perform an all-Beethoven recital at 7 p.m. today in the Administration Auditorium, Harding University, Searcy, as part of the university's 2014-15 Classical Lyceum series. The program will include the Rondo in C major, op.51, No. 1, and four piano sonatas: in E-flat major, op.31, No.3; in c-sharp minor, op.27, No. 2, "Moonlight"; in A major, op.101; and in f minor, op.57, "Appassionata"). Slipknot tickets

Stereotypical exhibition

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Sequoyah National Research Center will open an exhibit titled "Toy Tipis and Totem Poles: Native American Stereotypes in the Lives of Children," with a reception at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Dr. J.W. Wiggins Native American Art Gallery at the center, in University Plaza, Asher and University avenues, Little Rock.

The exhibit, up through Dec. 19, consists of childhood objects -- including dolls, toys, books, games, clothing and sports memorabilia -- from the Hirschfelder-Molin Native American Stereotypes Collection.

Moon over Argenta

The Argenta Downtown Council will offer telescopic views of the lunar landscape for the fifth annual International Observe the Moon Night, 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Sixth and Main streets, North Little Rock.

It's free. If the forecast calls for inclement weather or clouds, the event will move to Friday. The event is a partnership with the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock physics and astronomy department and The Launch Pad of the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub. 3 artists' exhibitions

The Baum Gallery of Fine Art, in the west wing of McCastlain Hall at the University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway, will hold a reception at 4 p.m. today to open exhibitions of works by artist Fay Ku, who creates mixed-media works on paper; Kathleen Robbins, who takes large-scale photographs of her Mississippi Delta hometown; and Theresa Pfarr, a semi-abstract figure painter working in acrylics. Fayetteville rock 'n' roll band High Lonesome will perform.
