Cory Branan tour follows release of 4th album

Cory Branan will perform at 9:30 p.m. today at the White Water Tavern.

Branan, a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, released his fourth album, The No-Hit Wonder, on Aug. 19 on Bloodshot Records. It features guest appearances by Jason Isbell, Caitlin Rose, Austin Lucas, Tim Easton and two members of The Hold Steady, Craig Finn and Steve Selvidge. In 2002, he put out debut album The Hell You Say on Memphis label Madjack Records, which also released his second album, 12 Songs, four years later.

In 2012, he put out major-label debut MUTT on Bloodshot Records, and has since toured with The Gaslight Anthem and Isbell.

Admission is $10.

Friday the club will feature Middle Twin. The 9 p.m. show will begin with a set by Whale Fire.

Middle Twin is an electronic rock band from Lawrence, Kan. Members are Demi Renault on vocals and percussion; Joel Martin on vocals, keyboards and drums; Eric Davis on guitar and keyboards; Jon Fitzgerald on bass and vocals; and Isaac Flynn on drums.

Whale Fire is a Little Rock band that describes its sound as "a dream pop band ... trading in hazy, melodic pop tunes underpinned by reverb-heavy guitars and multi-part harmonies."

Admission is $6.

The club will feature Bobby Bare Jr. at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Bare, who also tours as part of the band the Young Criminals Starvation League, released his latest album, Undefeated, earlier this year.

Will Johnson will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Undercroft.

Admission is $15.

Johnson, a multi-instrumentalist who was born in Kennett, Mo., and now lives in Austin, Texas. He has played in the bands Centro-Matic, South San Gabriel, Monsters of Folk, New Multitudes and Overseas, and has toured with Varnaline, Son Volt and Patterson Hood.

The More Cowbell Tour, a benefit for promoter Rick Skinner, a stroke survivor, will feature Jessica Seven, The Violet Hour and Dead End Drive, Saturday at Juanita's.

Randall Shreve & The Sideshow, a frequent club favorite from Northwest Arkansas, will perform in central Arkansas at Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack at 9 p.m. Friday.

Admission is $6.

The Big Dam Horns will play at 9 p.m. Saturday. The 12-member group, who got together in May 2012, met while students at Henderson State University. The jazz/blues/soul/R&B/R&R band took its name from Little Rock's Big Dam Bridge.

Burning Addison, metal rockers with modern tendencies, will headline an evening at the Rev Room on Friday night.

The 9 p.m. show will open with sets by Vail, Enchiridion and Legions Await.

Stephen Neeper & The Wild Hearts will perform Saturday night, with the Lucious Spiller Band opening the show at 9 p.m.

Friday night, the club will present Kinisi Komodo at 9 p.m.

The band, consisting of Miles White on guitar, Amy Jo Bishop on vocals, Ronnie Lisanti on bass and vocals and Max Sestili on drums, is a Hot Springs-based group with influences that include Led Zeppelin, Heart, ZZ Top, Collective Soul and Alanis Morissette.

Admission is $3.

Saturday night, the club will present Arkansas burlesque group Foulplay Cabaret, along with Tennessee rock band Thelma and the Sleaze.

Admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
