Groups plead for Ebola-care aid

Crisis called overwhelming; another American said infected

Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, said Tuesday in Atlanta that Ebola’s spread is now the world’s first epidemic of the disease.

The international aid group Doctor Without Borders warned Tuesday that “the world is losing the battle” against Ebola and lamented that treatment centers in West Africa have been “reduced to places where people go to die alone” as the world struggles to contain the disease.
