Two Drownings Happen At Beaver Lake

— Two people drowned Monday in separate incidents on Beaver Lake.

Sean Kelley, 21, of Springdale was swimming near Martin’s Bluff when Kelley’s friends saw him go under water and he never resurfaced, said Keshia Guyll, public information deputy for the Benton County’s Sheriff’s Office.

A call was received at 4:56 p.m. Monday and divers were in the water about 90 minutes later, Guyll said. Kelley's body was found at 8 p.m., Guyll said.

Another drowning was reported at 7:30 p.m. at Horseshoe Bend, Guyll said.

Wilson Laibwij, 17, of Springdale was racing a friend when he began to struggle in the water, Guyll said.

“He went under, but resurfaced,” Guyll said.

Laibwij went under the water a second time and he never resurfaced, Guyll said.

Divers recovered his body at 11:15 p.m., Guyll said.

Officials do not believe that alcohol or drugs was involved in either incident, Guyll said.
