SPRINGDALE -- A 70-year-old man was arrested Sunday in connection with rape.
George Friend of 4676 E. Downum Road in Springdale was arrested after a 26-year-old woman told police she and Friend began conversing in a parking lot at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale when she had asked him for a cigarette. She said Friend began asking her questions, and then bear-hugged her and kissed her, according to an arrest report.
He fondled her and then gave her $10 and told her to keep her mouth shut, according to the report.
Friend was being held Monday in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
