Man Arrested In Connection With Vehicle Theft From Student Apartments

FAYETTEVILLE -- A man faces three felony charges in connection with a vehicle theft that happened Saturday.

Nathan Skelton, 27, of 1212 S. Dunn Ave. Apt. 9 in Fayetteville was arrested several hours after the theft in connection with vehicle theft, theft by receiving and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police said they watched a surveillance video of a man stealing a gold 2000 Toyota Camry from the Sterling Frisco Apartments, 413 N. West Ave.

The suspect parked his own vehicle, a white truck, next to the Camry.

After watching the video, police identified the license plate on the truck checked to Skelton's address, according to the report.

When police went to that address, they spoke with Skelton who told them the stolen car was parked at the intersection of 11th Street and Dunn Avenue, where he and his brother had left it.

The decals on the vehicle had been taken off and replaced with Razorback and hunting decals. The rearview mirror had been removed and replaced with a different one, and a GPS and Sirius XM were missing. Skelton was released Sunday from the Washington County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
