Glitch that stripped party affiliation in Washington County early voting fixed

Washington County election officials said Tuesday they’d fixed a glitch that caused candidates for office to be shown on voting touch screens without their political party alongside their names.

Jennifer Price, election coordinator, said the problem was fixed Monday evening in time for Tuesday voting. Early voting for the Nov. 4 election began Monday. Touch screens are being used instead of paper ballots at the county’s six early voting locations.

Votes cast Monday will still be counted correctly, Price said, because the computers still associated each candidate with the right political party.

The county election commission plans to meet Tuesday afternoon to discuss the issue.

Early votes can be cast in Fayetteville at the county courthouse, Boys & Girls Club and Medical Arts Pharmacy, as well as at Arvest Ballpark and the Rodeo Community Center in Springdale and in Prairie Grove’s City Hall. Any voter in the county can cast an early ballot at any of the locations.
