Arkansas Achievers

Miranda Smith received the Shelby Woods Award, presented to an outstanding student with a commitment to the tourism industry. The award is given annually by CJRW in honor of the years of service to the tourism industry by Shelby Woods, chairman emeritus of the Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods advertising firm in Little Rock.

Victoria Guevara received the Jim Gaston/Natural State Award, presented to an outstanding student with a commitment to the tourism industry. The award is given annually by Jim Gaston of Gaston's White River Resort.

Adrian Speck received the Mountain Harbor/Iron Mountain Resorts Award, presented annually to an outstanding student with a commitment to the hospitality industry. The award is given by the Mountain Harbor and Iron Mountain Resorts of Arkansas.

Ashley Breshears received the Michael Award, presented to an outstanding student with a commitment to the hospitality industry. The award is given annually by CJRW advertising firm in honor of the years of service to the tourism industry by Michael Dandurand.

Randall Roach received the Tim Mathis Memorial Scholarship, presented to an outstanding student with a commitment to the hospitality industry. The award is presented by Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Mathis in memory of their son, Tim Mathis.

Katelynn Cassidy received the Barnes/Woods Scholarship, presented to an outstanding student with a commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry. The annual award is given by Bill Barnes of Mountain Harbor Resort and Wayne Woods of Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods advertising firm of Little Rock.

Benjamin Blaine received the Central Arkansas Chapter Scholarship, presented annually to an outstanding student with a commitment to the hospitality industry. This scholarship is awarded by the Central Arkansas Chapter of the Arkansas Hospitality Association.

Spencer Gaither received the Franz Viertbauer Memorial Scholarship, presented to an outstanding student with a commitment to the hospitality industry. The award is given in honor and memory of Franz Viertbauer by friends and associates of Franz Viertbauer.

Tucker Partridge, son of Julie and Wade Partridge, has received the University of Arkansas Sturgis Fellowship. He graduated from Benton High School, where he served in various leadership roles, including president of the Benton High School Student Council. Partridge plans to study English or history.

Olivia Tzeng, daughter of Cathy Yang and Jason Tzeng, has received the University of Arkansas Sturgis Fellowship. She graduated from Conway High School, where she served as captain of the girls' soccer team, and head delegate of Model UN. Tzeng plans to major in biology and psychology.

Debra Cole of Hot Springs has been named the area's outstanding Consumer of the Year by the Department of Human Services Division of Services for the Blind. Cole works as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the behavioral health unit at Lakewood Convalescence Center in Hot Springs. She was named CNA of the Month at her job in August and was nominated for this award because of her determination to overcome adversity, serve others and succeed at work.
