SPRINGDALE -- Adler Goode felt like he had something to prove.

The Shiloh Christian senior receiver said he'd been challenged by Prairie Grove players during the week, questioning his ability to get open deep downfield.

With the outcome hanging in the balance, Goode answered the challenge Friday night with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Connor Reece as Shiloh Christian came back to defeat Prairie Grove 27-20 in a 1-4A Conference game at Champions Stadium.

"They said I couldn't run the deep route, so I wanted to show them," said Goode, who caught 5 passes for 130 yards. "They said I wasn't a deep threat, so I just told Connor to just throw it out there."

The victory ended Prairie Grove's 16-game conference winning streak and kept the Saints (4-2, 3-0) tied with Pea Ridge for the conference lead.

Shiloh Christian drove inside the Tigers' 20 three times in the first half, but Prairie Grove's defense came up with big play after big play, led by senior Eli Lopez, who was seemingly all over the field.

"We felt like we could move the football, that wasn't our issue," Shiloh Christian Coach Jeff Conaway said. "Our issue was once we got inside the red zone we were making some mental mistakes and really stopping ourselves.

"We challenged then at half to eliminate their mistakes and let's finish drives, and we did that in the second half."

Prairie Grove (3-2, 2-1) used two big plays to take a 14-0 lead into halftime. The first came on Bobby Catt's interception at the 8 that he returned deep inside Shiloh Christian territory, setting up Blake Faulk's short touchdown run with 2 minutes, 9 seconds left in the first quarter.

The second came after the Tigers held Goode out of the end zone on a fourth-down pass at the 2, then used a 75-yard run from Faulk that set up Lopez's short touchdown run for a 14-0 lead.

Shiloh Christian opened the second half with a four-play, 64-yard drive that was capped by Reece's 29-yard pass to Matthew Solomon to cut the deficit ti 14-7.

Although the Tigers answered with a touchdown drive, the momentum of the opening drive seemed to spark the Saints.

"When they came out in the second half and scored in about 42 seconds to put six on the board, we thought, 'Whew, this is going to be a tough one,' " Prairie Grove Coach Danny Abshier said. "I think our defense did a heck of a job for a long time, but you have to drive the dang ball and go score and we didn't do that."

The Saints scored the game's final 20 points, the last two touchdowns coming after a Prairie Grove fumble and a defensive stop that set up Goode's game-winner.

Reece completed 16 of 25 passes for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns for Shiloh Christian.
