Rogers scored the game's first 11 points and the Mounties never looked back in posting a 68-29 victory over the Tigers. Ten different Rogers players scored with Josh Boaz leading the way with 13 points while Milacio Freeland added 10. Carson McCullough and George Black both added eight points each for the Mounties (2-1).

"Very proud of our guys," said Rogers coach Wayne Herren. "I liked how we played hard. After the loss to Huntsville, it was nice to get that taste out of our mouth."

Rogers led 25-7 going to the second period and two 3-pointers by Boaz and another by Freeland on consecutive possessions upped the lead to 38-11. Rogers was 17-of-33 from the field in the first half as the Mounties built a 44-16 lead.

"That is what we need out of Josh and Milacio," Herren said. "We need a scorer from the outside and when Josh is on the floor he can give us that. Milacio, I can't say enough good things about him. He attacks, he is all heart and he gives it everything he has got every night."

But the most important stat for Herren the first 16 minutes was the Mounties 22-16 rebound advantage in the first half, and 38-29 for the game. Rogers was out rebounded by 18 in the loss to Huntsville.

"Usually the team that out rebounds the other will usually come out with the win," Herren said. "Very, very happy with the effort tonight."

Leighton Smith led Prairie Grove (1-2) with eight points while Gavin Heltemes and Parker Galligan had six points each.

Rogers High found its touch from the perimeter Tuesday night.

After making just one 3-pointer in its first two games of the year, the Lady Mounties hit five 3-pointers in the first half against Prairie Grove to start an easy victory over the Lady Tigers in King Arena.

Brooke Sagely led Rogers with 13 points behind one 3-pointer while Madison Sandor finished with 10 points after hitting two 3-pointers. Five different Rogers players had at least one 3-pointer.

"It was nice to see the ball go in the hole," said Rogers coach Preston Early. "It took some pressure off and we relaxed."

Rogers led 2-0 4 minutes, 33 seconds into the game but Sandor hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Elise Randels added another 3-pointer to help give Rogers a 13-3 lead going to the second period. Randels (7) and Sandor (6), who are both sophomores, combined to score the Lady Mounties first 13 points.

"Big, big baskets," Early said of the early 3-pointers. "That got our confidence going."

Prairie Grove (1-2) missed its first 12 3-point attempts and they were 2-of-17 from 3-point range while trailing 28-14 at halftime. The Lady Tigers cut the Rogers lead to 36-28 going to the fourth period but the Lady Mounties closed out the game with a 10-3 run.

"We dug ourselves a hole and we couldn't get any shots to fall," said Prairie Grove coach Kevin Froud. "Rogers came in and hit a few, but I thought we competed well."

Taylor Hartin led Prairie Grove with 14 points after hitting four 3-pointers
