Wednesday the 33-year-old Arron Lewis (right) and his estranged wife, Crystal Lowery, 41 (left), made their first Pulaski County Circuit Court appearance to answer charges that they kidnapped and killed Beverly Lownes Carter in September.

Formal charges were filed against Arron Lewis, 33, and Crystal Lowery, 41, on Monday in the death of Realtor Beverly Carter, court documents state.

An arrest disposition report dated Sept. 30 states that Lewis confessed only to kidnapping Carter.

Lewis, of Jacksonville, is charged with one count of capital murder and kidnapping, and four counts of possession of a firearm by a certain person.

Lowery, Lewis' estranged wife who was arrested Oct. 30, is charged with one count of capital murder and kidnapping.

While authorities were searching for Carter, Lewis failed to provide detectives with her location, according to the report. Authorities found her after telephone records were traced to “a certain area off of [Arkansas] Highway 5 in Pulaski County,” the report states.

Carter’s body was found on the property of a Cabot cement company on Arkansas 5, where Lewis was employed earlier this year, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.

A search in the area revealed Carter in a shallow grave, bound by duct tape, according to the report.
