Bentonville Commission Approves Permit

BENTONVILLE -- The Planning Commission approved a permit allowing the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to operate a temporary mechanic shop on Peach Orchard Road.

The commission approved the permit 6-0. Commissioner Richard Binns was absent.

The 4,000-square-foot structure is on the south side of Peach Orchard Road about 1,000 feed south of Lowes.

The shop will provide will provide mechanics with an all-weather place to maintain equipment used in constructing the Bella Vista bypass from today through June 30.

The hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. Three part-time employees will occupy the shop.

The commission also approved 6-0 a large-scale development for a 4,200-square-foot airplane hangar at 2400 S.W. Aviation St. and a lot split on the southeast corner of the intersection of Southeast 28th and Southeast S streets.

Ben Peters, city airport manager, gave commissioners an update on the municipal airport's Master Plan. Officials are two months into the expected 12-month process for the plan's development, Peters said.
