Authorities seek second man in connection with Tontitown killing

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is seeking a second man in connection with a fatal Tontitown stabbing last week, the office announced late Tuesday evening.

Investigators are looking for Lewis Anthony Hedges, 34, who authorities say is a suspected accomplice to capital murder in the stabbing death of Leann Frazier in the early morning of May 21.

Hedges' last known address was along Brogdon Street in Springdale, the office said on its Facebook page. Anyone with information is asked to call 479-444-5700. A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office did not immediately return a request for comment.

Late last week, the sheriff's office said Hedges was a material witness and might be driving a blue Dodge Neon and could be armed with a handgun.

Brock Atkins, 19, was arrested shortly after Frazier's death in connection with capital murder. According to a preliminary report, Atkins told investigators Frazier and two other men came to his house at about 4 a.m. and accused him of stealing methamphetamine.

Atkins said he didn't know what they were talking about, according to the report.

One of the men pointed a handgun at Atkins’ head and said if Atkins was telling the truth, Frazier was lying. The man said he would kill Atkins and his family if Atkins didn’t kill Frazier, Atkins told investigators. This man then handed a knife to Atkins, Atkins said.

Frazier tried to run, Atkins told investigators, but he pursued, tackling her and stabbing her in the throat “until she stopped making any noises.”

Detectives found Frazier’s body, the handgun and the knife after searching the residence. Other evidence found also fit Atkins’ story, according to the report.

Atkins is being held in the Washington County Detention Center without bond.
