Boat crash kills 1 in Garland County

One man was killed when two boats collided on Lake Hamilton in Garland County on Saturday, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officials said.

About 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, a boat carrying five people and a boat carrying one man collided, resulting in the death of the lone man, Game and Fish Commission spokesman Keith Stephens said.

Stephens said the collision occurred on Lake Hamilton near Central Avenue in Hot Springs.

The identity of the deceased man is not being released because officials were still trying to notify his family Sunday evening.

The other boaters did not report any injuries, Stephens said.

Stephens said the cause of the crash is not yet known, and the collision is under investigation.

The driver of the other boat took a blood alcohol test, but Stephens said it could take a couple of weeks for the results to come back.
