A Russellville man was killed Friday morning after he was struck by a tractor-trailer.

James Edward Hood, 54, was hit at approximately 9:09 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Weir Road and East Parkway Drive, according to a release from the Russellville Police Department. He was declared dead at the scene by the Pope County Coroner.

According to the report, the tractor-trailer was attempting to make a right turn when it struck Hood, who was on a bicycle. Hood was reportedly in the pedestrian crosswalk at the time of the accident.

An investigation of the accident is ongoing.
