Deputies answered a call at 9811 German Road at about 8:11 p.m. of a man firing an assault rifle in the area, according to sheriff's office reports.

While en route, they got a description of the gunman's vehicle and pulled over a gray Chevrolet Caprice on Arkansas 365 near Slinker road. They said the driver fled from deputies on foot.

He was eventually caught and, as he was being put into the back of a deputy's car, he made the "spontaneous" announcement that he wasn't shooting at anyone, just firing in the air, reports said.

During a search of the car, deputies found a black SKS rifle, as well as a pill bottle filled with a substance believed to be cocaine, as well as a set of digital scales, reports said.

They later met a man who said the man, identified as Marcus Venson, had aimed the weapon and fired it at him.

Venson, 35, of 4124 Slinker Road, was charged with committing a terroristic act, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, as well as fleeing and three drug-related felonies.

He remained at the Pulaski County jail early Friday night. No bail had been set.

LR woman faces assault charge

Police dispatched to a car chase arrested a Little Rock woman after she purportedly assaulted the occupants of another car Friday, according to a report from North Little Rock police.

Police received a report that a white Jeep was chasing a black Toyota Camry in the area of 18th Street and Pike Avenue early Friday afternoon. An officer reported observing Cora Hair, 29, speeding away from the scene. The officer stopped Hair and took her into custody.

Three occupants of the Toyota Camry stated that Hair had attempted to strike them with a baseball bat and had hit their car twice with the bat, according to police.

Hair claimed she had been chasing the Toyota Camry because one of its occupants had broken her windshield, the report states.

She was charged with aggravated assault and bail was set at $25,000. As of late Friday, she was not listed on the inmate roster at the Pulaski County jail.

Burglary suspect said to sell piano

A North Little Rock man is facing a breaking and entering charge after he reportedly stayed in a building for several days and advertised a piano on Craigslist without the owner's permission, police said.

North Little Rock police said they arrested Nicholas Higgins, 35, on Thursday after he broke the window of a building at 325 W. 29th St. and stayed there for several days. Higgins purportedly advertised a piano on Craigslist for sale for $800 and sold it from the building, according to police.

He was taken to Pulaski County jail, fingerprinted and released. The jail has been closed to nonviolent, nonfelony offenders since April 29 because of overcrowding.
