Motorcycle officer injured in LR crash

A Little Rock police officer was injured Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with a car.

According to a collision report, officer Tim Stankevitz, 44, was riding his motorcycle along Roosevelt Road near Broadway at 11:58 a.m. when Katassja Washington, 25, pulled out in front of him from the parking lot of Todd's T & C Auto Clinic.

Stankevitz, who said he was driving about 25 mph, told authorities he attempted to stop but collided with Washington's black Chevrolet Impala and was thrown over the handlebars of his motorcycle and onto the hood of the vehicle.

Stankevitz had extreme pain in his left leg and couldn't stand, the report states. He was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries that were not deemed life-threatening and released.

Washington said she was attempting to make a left turn out of the parking lot and didn't see the motorcycle until right before the crash. She was cited with failure to yield.
